Tourism Development Officer

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director General, the Tourism Development Officer will provide support to tourism operators, plan, organize and carry out activities related to the promotion and marketing of products and tourism services in South Temiscamingue Sector (T.N.O. Laniel, Municipality of Kipawa, Kebaowek First Nation, Town of Temiscaming).

Roles and responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Kipawa Tourism Committee, follow through with the implementation of the marketing plan and promotion of tourism in the South Temiscamingue sector;
  • Coordinate the development, online publishing and the daily updating of the Kipawa Tourism website;
  • Develop, improve and promote tourism attractions, specifically for outdoor four season recreation, in collaboration with various regional tourism partners;
  • Welcome, refer and advise tourism operators in the development of their projects to maximize economic spinoff;
  • Establish a strategy to support the operators and communities to develop business opportunities around Lake Temiscaming and Lake Kipawa;
  • Inform, train and meet the merchants to heighten their awareness regarding tourism opportunities and new trends in both development and promotion;
  • Create partnerships between businesses to develop package deals to encourage tourists to stay longer in our region;

Requirements
Job requirement:

  • Creative mind, politically oriented, ability to facilitate groups
  • Show autonomy  and self-motivation
  • Ability to manage a website
  • Ability to create and apply developmental strategies with regards to tourism
  • Proficient in both French and English, oral and written

 

Qualifications:

  • University education in tourism development, marketing, administration or other related disciplines, or experience
  • 3 years of experience in tourist or regional development and business areas would be a valued asset

Start date:  Beginning of March 2017

Will be determined based on qualifications and experience of the applicant.
